Carpe Diem Tan Renga Challenge #82, Basho’s first haiku (1662) “has spring come”

wheat

The “hokku” (the opening verse) is the following (with preface):

Today we have the first day of spring in spite of the day.

has spring come
or the year gone away?
second last day

© Basho (Tr. Jane Reichhold)

the golden spikes of wheat

sway in the golden sun

………………………………………

the onset of spring

brings with it a ray of hope

happiness all around

………

the flowers bloom in vibrant colors

the fragrance fills up our senses

…………………………………………………………………….

life bursting all around

tiny buds peeping from under the bushes

playing hide and seek

…………..

colorful butterflies sprinting on flowers

painting a beautiful picture full of life
